Hair Transplant - Post-Op Instructions
**MOST IMPORTANT**
For the first 10 days after your hair transplant, the implanted grafts are very fragile and can easily be dislodged. For the first 10 days you must NOT touch or cause any physical impact to your new hair implants.
- Do NOT wash your hair or get your head wet for the first 10 days.
- On day 3 after your hair transplant, you will return to the doctor to have your bandages removed. The doctor will gently clean your scalp.
- Do NOT wear a hat.
- Do NOT expose the transplanted area to direct sunlight for 14 days.
- No alcohol or smoking for the first weeks after your procedure.
- Sleeping position;
- Sleep with your head elevated (using two or more pillows) for the first 4 nights to reduce swelling
- Do NOT let the transplanted area touch the pillows. Sleep on your back to prevent friction.
- Medication and Pain Relief;
- Take all medications recommended by Rt Hair Restoration
- Continue to avoid blood thinning medications like Aspirin
- Swelling and Redness;
- Mild swelling and redness in the forehead region and eyes is common. These symptoms will subside after a few days.
- Use a cold compress on your forehead (NOT the transplanted area) to help reduce swelling.
- Avoid Physical Activity;
- Rest for the first 3 days after your procedure. Avoid strenuous activities that may increase the blood flow to the scalp for the first week.
- Avoid swimming pools, oceans and hot tubs for at least three weeks.
- Shedding of Transplanted hair;
- Don’t be alarmed if the transplanted hair begins to shed in the first 2-3 weeks. This is a normal part of the process, and the new hair will start to grow in the following months.
- Do attend follow up appointments with the doctor to monitor your progress.
- Contact the doctor if;
- If you experience excessive swelling, bleeding or pain.
- You notice signs of infection such as warmth, redness or discharge from the treated area.
